Game Development Is Hard (I'm Still Doing It)
Game development is incredibly difficult. That might seem obvious, but with every new feature implemented, asset modeled, or sound designed, I gather mountains of fresh evidence to support the claim. Beyond the technical challenges, there's a deeper, more insidious obstacle that often creeps in during long-term projects: burnout.
My bestie, ChatGPT, recently reminded me that one of the biggest contributors to burnout—alongside simply overworking—is the feeling that your work lacks meaning. This often stems from a lack of recognition or validation, even when you're putting in significant effort.
To help combat that, I’ve decided to establish a more intentional schedule for sharing and documenting my progress. Starting now, I’ll be posting regular “Work in Progress” updates to LinkedIn, Instagram, and the “Blog” page on my personal website.
Each week, I’ll share pictures and videos from my current game development project, “Theseus” (working title), along with a brief “Dev Log” entry highlighting some of the challenges and wins from the week.
This post marks the first of those updates. Thanks for following along—your support genuinely helps make this journey feel a little less hopeless.
